Calm your mind, body and spirit through yoga! Gentle yoga movements have been found to ease symptoms of cancer treatment including fatigue, pain and loss of strength or mobility. Yoga also eases the stress felt by caregivers, family members and friends. So please come and RELAX with us!
NOTE: A doctor’s release is required for patients undergoing treatment.
By appointment – please contact Jen Robbins by emailing or calling 817-921-0653.
Another effective way to ease stress and relax is through Reflexology. Reflexology is a natural healing art based on the principle that there are areas in the feet, hands and ears which correspond to every part of the body. Through application of pressure, reflexology relieves tension, improves circulation and helps promote the natural function of the related areas of the body. Because we rely on volunteers, this service is not always available.
NOTE: A doctor’s release is required for patients undergoing treatment.
By appointment – please contact Jen Robbins by emailing or calling 817-921-0653.
Ahhhhh… MASSAGE! Massage can reduce stress, pain and muscle stiffness (plus it feels fabulous!). If you have recently completed cancer treatment, please inquire about receiving a full body massage by a licensed, professional massage therapist.
By appointment – contact Jane Oderbe at 817-921-0653
It is normal to become worried, sad, angry, or to feel anxious after learning you have cancer. You may have feelings of loss, and you could be frightened about what the future will bring. These feelings range in intensity from person to person and from one day to the next.
Many people find that counseling can help them manage the complications that being a cancer patient can add to life. This is why we offer individual, couples and/or family counseling by a licensed therapist. If you would like to make an appointment, please contact Jane Oderberg at 817-921-0653.

No one should have to battle cancer alone. Learning that you have cancer can be an overwhelming experience – one that leaves you feeling frightened and vulnerable. So there is a benefit to knowing someone who has gone through the same experience, who understands what you are feeling.
A mentor can provide support in a way no one else can because he or she has “been there” and understands what you are going through from a first person point of view. If you would like to be matched with a mentor, please let your social worker know, or contact Jen Robbins by emailing or calling 817-921-0653.
Note: If you are a cancer survivor and would like to become a mentor, please contact Jen Robbins by emailing or calling 817-921-0653.
Possibly one of CCS’s best kept secrets is our amazing resource library! Located in the living room of our building on S. Henderson is a collection of written materials, videos, DVDs, audio CDs and cassette tapes. We also have a variety of free magazines and pamphlets. Resource topics include:
- Different types of cancer, i.e. melanoma, prostate, breast, lung, etc.
- Managing treatment
- Nutrition – one of our most popular areas of interest
- Talking to children about cancer
- Caregiving
- Grief
- General cancer information
Stop by CCS and browse… then feel free to check-out the materials that are helpful to you.
Note: If you have new or gently-used materials you would like to donate to the Resource Library, please contact Jen Robbins by emailing or calling 817-921-0653.

Annually in November and December
Every holiday season, our social workers help identify CCS clients who need a little extra help during the holiday season (financial eligibility required). The cost and stress cancer treatments bring can take a significant toll both emotionally and financially, so a team of volunteers “adopt” families in need by furnishing a Thanksgiving Dinner – &/or – purchasing, wrapping and delivering holiday gifts. If you are a client and would like to be considered for the Thanksgiving and/or Holiday Adopt-A-Family program, please contact your social worker directly.
Note: If you would like to volunteer to make holiday wishes come true for a very special family (or multiple families), please contact Jen Robbins by emailing or calling 817-921-0653.
